Texinfoは、GNUの標準的なドキュメントシステムで用いられるファイルです。１つのソースファイルから、オンライン・ドキュメントとプリント・ドキュメントの両方を作成することができます。
Infoファイルを作成するには、makeinfoユーティリティを使うか、Emacsでtexinfo-format-bufferコマンドを実行します。makeinfoユーティリティに--htmlオプションを与えれば、HTML形式のファイルを作成することができます。
プリント・ドキュメントの作成については割愛します。
Texinfoファイルは、プレーンなASCIIテキストファイルです。中身は、テキストとタイプセットを表す@で始まる@-commandsからなります。
一般的には、Texinfoファイルは最低次の６つの部分から構成されます。
Texinfoファイルの拡張子は、慣例により次のものが使用されています。
