Yamanaka Lake

Yamanaka Lake Image

Yamanaka Lake has roads around the lake and thick woods. Some cottages are scattered throughout the woods.

This story happened 20 years ago. There was a very old cottage, which looked like a samurai's residence. And the cottage had a well.

My friend, Miss O, and her friends put up at the cottage next to that old cottage. A high school girl stayed in that old cottage with her family and relative's family. That was a summer vacation for the girl, but couldn't enjoy it so much because she was the only young person in the families and she felt an age gap.

The girl became a friend with Miss O's group. Miss O and her friends were a little older than she was. She enjoyed playing some card games and talking till midnight.

We can see many young men and women in the Summer. But we can also feel the terrible atmosphere in the dark woods.

Yamanaka Lake sunset

One day, there were many people who were in boats on the lake enjoying the beautiful scenery. The girl was one of them. Miss O and her friends went out on the lake, too. That scene was very beautiful and not as hot as ocean. They could see beautiful Mt.Fuji.

The girl noticed Miss O's group. "Hello". She stood and moved her hand. Then the strong wind blew very suddenly and turned over her boat. The girl disappeared into the lake forever.

I hope you see that beautiful scene at least one time. In the evening, the tops of the wave shine like gold. How beautiful it is!

In some cases, the water floats dead bodies that had not been found so long time to the boat station. The old cottage was near the boat station. If somebody found a dead body at the boat station, they moved it to the old cottage, washed it, and waited for the policemen. I heard that the old cottage was such a place. I don't know it the old cottage still exists now or not.

Mt. Fuji It is very famous as a beautiful mountain or a sightseeing spot. But in the old days, it was famous as a sacred place.
