First,"MSX" was released.MSX has Z80A(4MHz) as a CPU, PSG as a sound module ,and V9938 as a VDP(ViDeo Prossesser).Many makers sold their machines those which had these architectures.It was 1981(,as I remember).
In those days,plenty of fine softs had released almost every day by today's famous soft makers,Konami,NAMCO,ASCII,and so on.
In this term,most machines had 8~32KB as a MainRAM,and 16KB as a VideoRAM.
