'Typing98' is not 'Typing training software'.
This likes to be 'Typing measurement tool'.
One day,I have been introduced a certain Typing software on DOS,named 'Typing'.
It was unuseful in the point that we must exit the program if we want to
change user.
So ,I began to make 'Typing98' on Windows95.
...If I recommend the defference from the last program,
this has another mode,Japanese(Hyakunin-isshu) mode.
About Internet Registration and Method of Record transport
From Version 1.4, I have made Typing98 about Users alternative.
Internet Registerable User (Internet User)
Internet Non-Registerable User (General User)
This separation would araise on the registration.
Since Internet Users will use the sentences which I prepare.
they will compete on the same ground.
General Users can select the input sentences.
As you find a check box which shows "Official"
, it can change the mode of between Internet User and General User.
You must register on each mode to use both modes.
When "Official" box is filled,you can
register a Internet User to push "Register" Button.
And when it is not filled , you can register a General User.
And I must tell you one more changing.
This version-up cause the difference of the Record filename.
From "Result.dat" to "Result.NonOfficial.dat".
Or "Salvage" Button also can rename the Record file automatically.
One line in your record file contains one user data as Text Encoding.
You may transport a user with one line moving.
First item of the line means 'Real Name',next one means 'Certification'
which is need to decode your record,and next means encoded record.
If 'Certification' is under 0, the language of the record is English.
If 'Certification' is over 0, the language of the record is Japanese.
Before you play,you must regist yourself as a program User.
Push the button in the right hand side,printed [Regist].
Then you can see a Dialog of registration.
and,fill out your information.
You must fill the text-field except for 'E-Mail'.
One user has one language mode.
If you want to play both modes,regist another user.
The 'Password' will be needed when you clear your record.

To change the "Official" check box,you can change the mode,
whether Internet User or General User.
Select user
From the Combo box
(It has a single window figure.And if you click it,
you can select one item from the list view.)
,you select your username.
Or,you can also select user with clicking a item from the bottom list of the records.
Now you start
If you click the [Start] button on the left hand side,or
enter [Enter]key , you can begin a test.
You'll see the practice sentences on the upper Text area,
and a cursor under the first sentence.
- Internet User
Decided sentences are shows randomly.
- General User
You can have decided the sentences which you would input.
English File and Japanese File are
"English.dat" and "Japanese.dat"
respectively.
You should save the sentences in these files as text format.
And You will see one sentence as one line in practice.
How to go
Input as same as the practice sentence.
If you touch a wrong key,a beep sounds which sounds
in case of 'Win95 input error'.
Fix the error , and continue.
After one line input ,push [Enter] key and you can go onto the next line.
At that time if you have anything wrong with the line,
you'll input the line again.
How is the record?
I remember your record as '[Input Characters]/[Time to take]=[Character/Minute]'.
If you clear your best score ,you are asked your password not to
change others' score.
The comment you input will be uploaded with
when you upload your record to Internet Competition page.
Only the records of Internet Users can be uploaded to Internet.
[Upload]Button takes the best score to Internet Competition page,
which score is of the user selected at the time
[Show WebCompetition]Button shows the page with a extern browser.

You can exchange the source file of the practice.
The Buttons which shows the record items can sort the records on their point of view.
Each push changes the order of sort.
NOW, the best record of my surrounding is about '450[char/min]'
My best record is about '314[char/min]' now.
You can compete with others all over the world if you upload your record to Internet page.

In 1997, autoumn season.I began to make a program in VB4.
It had an animation button to make [Start]Button.
After all overnights, it had finished in outline.
I named it Typing97.
Secretly I put the Program Icon near by DOS-Typing on a certain machine,
and everyone had begun the Program.
Because it used an animation button , they restarted it with a [Space]key.

I mended ver1.0,Inproving the fonts, Fixing the measurement of the speed,and so on.
And corresponding to the inconvenient that it cannot be installed in PC-98(NEC)
I made a program which didn't have any animation button.
I named it 'Typing98 ([taiping kju:hati])'.
It had the Start button as a normal command button.

I remade the animation [Start]Button with PictureBox and Timer Object.
The reason why I take such difficulty labour is to make a preparation time
before you start typing.
I named it 'Typing98 ([taiping nainti nain])'.
Saucy I presented to the public it on my machine placed in univ.

Preambled that it will be able to upload the record onto Internet,
I implemented the functions to it.
The sort by each item was implemented.
The way of recording was changed, from registory to text file,
to be easy to transport one's record for other machine.
It allowed User Information to change.
I changed VB compiler version from 4 to 5.
This change might enhance the speed of running.
So as you think, I bought VisualStudio97 Pro thoughtlessly.

This made the CGI-Script on the server invalid.

I implemented the prevention to unfairness.

Immediately I fixed it.
And I wrote This Help file for the first time.

I implemented it so that it could be seen in the tooltip of ListBox.

And bringing with that,I improved the body of CGI also.

I erased the word of 'Tentative Regist'.
In the working the mouse cursor shape turns to WAIT_CURSOR.
It changed so that it asked your password if you updated your record.
This change would forbid you to update other person's record.

The sort is implemented by QuickSort now.
This improved the sort time in the case of 10 over users.

and Non-Internet User mode.And with that , the competition page on
the Internet was differd.
